"When I was fifteen I bought my first guitar so I could play along with my sister who strummed a Gibson twelve string. We'd spend hours playing and working out vocal harmonies to sing around town."

Best described as; "Earthy"... "Sultry"... "Warm"... "Inviting"... "Indie"..."Coastal"... With a melodic folksy, jazzy blues style all her own Annette Ash blends poetry to guitar with music that celebrates both strength and vulnerability.

On the north shores of Chicago, Annette grew up on the blues, rock, jazz and legendary music of Woodstock. The world had fast become a playground of new sounds and freedom on the stage as well as off. On the eve of high school graduation she found herself with a handful of friends taking in Louie Armstrong, Muddy Waters and the best of Chicago nightclubs and underground music. Three days later, Annette ventured to California and landed on a Sausalito houseboat in the midst of the west coast art and music renaissance. Neighboring Shel Silverstien, Alan Watts and David Crosby, her dreams were formed and influenced by some of the greatest artists of the day. Harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, emerging energy of Clapton, grit of Janis Joplin, and open tunings of Joni Mitchell stirred Annette to pen her own songs. Silently watching Grahm Nash singing and pacing under the Sausalito street lamps made hopeful dreams seem a promising reality. Those dreams were shelved for the next two decades while raising five children through the ups and downs of life.

Today Annette is returning to her roots and writing under the tutelage of Grammy nominated songwriters and some of the best in the industry. As a twenty year associate member of WCS, West Coast Songwriters and NSAI, Nashville Songwriter Assoc International, Annette keeps her muse and passion for music alive.

Founder of Central Valley Songwriters Association and president of the Fresno NSAI Songwriters Regional Chapter, Annette hosts monthly meetings for aspiring songwriters. Honing your craft and keeping up with today's music business are just a couple of the topics presented.
